The local town of Masbat is only 3kms away from the Lagoon and offers a variety of nightlife. There are an abundance of colourful restaurants offering many local and international dishes. The local restaurants serve kofta (spiced meatballs), seafood, and oriental mezze's, Thai, Indian, Chinese, Steak and Italian food. Main courses start from €2.50 and local food from €1.00!

The colourful shopping streets have a wide variety of goods for sale including carpets, cotton, perfume, and jewelry. There are many small supermarkets and pharmacies. Most languages spoken.

Try going local smoking a shisha (hubbly bubbly flavoured tobacco) in a chill out cafe or bar, or relax in a seafront restaurant listening to the waves lapping on the shore. There are also great cocktail or dance bars too.

Egypt is rich in historical places of interest. You are spoilt for choice for day trips and things to do in Dahab and the surrounding area.

Moses Mountain and St. Catherine's Monastery are only a short drive from Dahab. Watch the sunrise from the top of Mount Sinai and feel on top of the world. The Monastery is a 4th Century Greek Orthodox Monastery home to the burning bush and Moses' Well.

Venture further a field and visit the spectacular Pyramids and Sphinx at Giza, the Egyptian museum and take a felucca down the Nile.

Tour the stunning temples and the Valley of the Kings in Luxor, or step back in time as you wander into the Rose City of Petra in Jordan.

There are also two aqua parks in Sharm El Sheik for family fun, and a new shopping area.
